As readers of this blog know, I don’t really know what I’m talking about. But, since this is a blog I’ll go ahead and make some predictions about beer in 2008 like I do know what I’m talking about. These may be generic enough to be gimmies or they could be totally uninformed or I could have pulled them out of my ass. Whatever the case, let me know what you think in the comments.

Craft Beer Sales Will Increase

This is an easy one. Last year, craft beer sales saw healthy increases. Not only that, but it seems like craft beer mindshare is still increasing and will continue to do so. Ok so my first question. I brewed the beer below about a month ago it has been in secondary for about 2 weeks now and I am thinking about oaking it. Do you guys think oak would help this beer out? I have american oak cubes (medium toast), how much? I am looking for a nice light oak character. I also plan on aging this beer till next christmas!

Snappy New Beer ... wished on me by a colleague and fellow Indiana Homebrewer at midnight. It's probably been around, but it was honestly the first I'd heard it and seemed appropriate.

The Rules for the Pass:

1. Preferably send homebrew, but if your stocks are low you can send a favorite microbrew. If you are sending a commercial style, check in with the person you are sending it to just to make sure they don't already have a bunch of that in the fridge already. BMC is not pass worthy, so don't send any of that swill. Sending BMC is grounds for a permanent ban from future passes.

2. The deadline to Ship your beers is 2 weeks after the drawing. That allows some people who get paid every other week to wait for the following paycheck if it falls on an odd week for them. If you find yourself in a situation in which you signed up but cannot provide for the pass, please contact me and we will work it out.
