Would you pay $18.75 for a bottle of beer? I did last night at Bos Barbecue, in Lafayette, CA. And why not? It was a 25 oz. bottle of Achel Bruin, from the Belgian Trappist monastery, St. Bernardus de Achel. Its hard to find anywhere in California, but naturally, Bos would have it. Bo is William [...]
Thunderhead Brewing came through last Thursday's tornadoes in good shape. Trevor Schaben summed up his brewery's status:
Some stuff on my roof blew around and the A/C isn't working, but I can't complain.

Ok, I moved to the U.S ten years ago. I have travelled to many places far and wide here in the U.S and throughout the world.... but i can tell you without hesitation that the sly fox 113 IPA is the best beer in the world. Lots of hops, deep taste and fully rounded. This beer is not for the weak, it is 7.5 ABV. The pub produces many of its beers in cans, bottles and take out jars. The food is adequate, but why worry about food when the beer is this good! one of the few pubs with outside seating so we frequent this spot far too often! read more »
I first reported the press release for this beer a few weeks back. Normally I do not post stuff like that, because the typical marketing fluff is not worth it (at least not for a post all by itself). I will admit, however, I was intrigued with the beer’s production process (flying fresh picked hops from New Zealand’s hop harvest), so the press release got some play here on sevenpack. Interesting production process is one thing, but is the final product good tasting is another.
Poured into a pint glass, the beer is clear and orange-red. A nice pillowy, white head, a good finger and a half thick, tops the beer off. As the head recedes a nice stickage of foam remains on the pint glass walls. The aroma is a mix between pine wood, and lemon. Nothing that is going to blow you off your seat, like a typical American west coast fresh hop beer, but pleasant and present. read more »

Basically, I hate beer threads that start like this…There are five beers in the U.S. or the world or South Africa or Belgium or where ever with dogs on the label…blah …blah blather and blah. However, a beer festival held last weekend at Rogue in Newport, OR, is worth a mention. According to Real Beer, they held the fest in memory of a dog…READ MORE…
