A peach beer that made me pucker.

As Grant and other correspondents have  warned, Dogfish's Festina Peche is one sour brew. I had one the other night while watching the Os beat the Yankees. The result of the baseball game was sweet, but not the beverage. The folks...Rob Kasper

Two New Beers from Flat Earth

fe.jpg Flat Earth has two new beers hitting the stores on Friday - Convention Ale, a Belgian red and Onvi Ale, a Biere de Garde. Here’s the lowdown on each beer. Convention Ale is Belgian red ale. We combined a lot of different ingredients to make this beer. Made with American, English and Belgian malts, English and German hops and Belgian yeast. Very refreshing, smooth and easier to swallow then the up coming election cycle and you’ll still want more of it later. At 5.5% abv you can enjoy more then one. Ovni Ale has a substantial and complex malt profile with flavors of toffee and caramel and a restrained hop bitterness. The beer is very smooth and deceptive at 7.1% ABV.  read more »

GETTIN ALL GIGGLY WITH MARIN BREWINGS BLUEBEERY

Ive said it before, Ive got no problem ordering up a fruit-flavored beer, though naturally Im always ready for the letdown that follows at least 50% of the time. Best fruit beer going today? Im glad you asked: Dogfish Heads Aprihop . Worst fruit beer? Probably that SWEETWATER BLUE I had earlier in the year. Last weekend me & my son hopped a ferry for his first-ever boat ride, and took it from San Francisco to Larkspur, in Marin County. Needing some lunch hey! Guess what happens to be at the Larkspur ferry terminus! MARIN BREWING ! Wow, what a surprise?  read more »

Belgian Beer no.255: Deux Nigauds

You will not believe this. But it is SO hot in Brussels at the moment, that drinking (Belgian!) beer is not really on our mind. Problem with the Belgian beer, besides being plenty of, is that it tends to be on the heavy side. Hops and alcohol don't mix well with the heat. We havent been going out much trying new beers. Instead bought a decent stock of untried beer which we sip at ease at home. In the garden.  read more »

Gallup Says Me And Mine Prefer Beer

The Gallup Organization, that shadowy group that has been telling me my whole life about what is going on and expecting me to simply accept it - and usually for good reason - has released the chart above according to the Boston Globe and a bazillion other news sources. It's quite an extraordinary chart. It states that from 2005 to 2005, the three percent difference in my US cohorting cousins for beer over wine swung [Ed.: swanged?] to a whopping 20% difference.  read more »
