It was originally located one block to the east in an historic building and was formerly the Fremont Tavern and a drugstore (great historic photo in the bar area). They did a good job of retaining the original comfortable eclectic feel (and the Fremont stained glass window from the former Fremont Tavern). Though I had some great ribs and hot dogs yesterday, I recognize that July 4 represents more than just a day for bbq, cold beer and fireworks.
The holiday is also an important marketing opportunity for your favorite anti-establishment rappers. After a hearty meal of patriotism, there’s always room for a bowl of lime-colored quivering dissidence.
So it’s good timing that new music is out from rabble-rousers like Immortal Technique and Nas.

The bar has 8 brews on tap with several additional selections in bottles. When I visited, the taps included Anchor Steam, Lagunitas IPA, Mendocino Red Tail Ale, several mega crafts and one Coors Lite tap. There are several HDTVs behind the bar as well as in the general dining area which is primarily booths with a few tables plus some outside seating as well. read more »
