Cambridge Brewing Company to Celebrate Nineteenth Anniversary

Cambridge, MA . 05-02-08/05-03-08 . On Friday, May 2nd 2008 The Cambridge Brewing Company will kick off their Nineteenth Anniversary Party. Keeping with tradition the event will feature nineteen beers on tap and nineteen dinner specials, one for each year of business. Many of the favorite and now famous CBC beers will be featured including Red God IPA, Bannatynes Scotch Ale and Tripel Threat, among others. The dinner menu will feature an eclectic blend of beer-focused and American cuisine. The event will take place at the restaurant, located at 1 Kendall Sq in Cambridge from 5:00pm - 1:00 on both Friday, May 2nd and Saturday, May 3rd. All beers and dishes are available a la carte. Tables and bar stools are available on a first come first served basis. There is no cover for this event. Owner/operator Phil Bannatyne founded the company in late 1988 and spent the next six months cleaning, renovating and creating the space that would become The Cambridge Brewing Company. For the first four months he was literally alone in the slowly developing space before original General Manager Jonathan Trembly joined him in March of 1989. They officially opened the adventurous brewery-restaurant on the first Friday of May, 1989. The Cambridge Brewing Company is the oldest standing brewpub in the greater Boston area. CBC was founded early in the craft beer revolution and continues this adventurous spirit with experimental brewing techniques, unique hybrid beer styles and by developing the new sub-genre of beer cuisine. This year, the Cambridge Brewing Company has another reason to celebrate. Brewmaster Will Meyers is celebrating his fifteenth anniversary with the company. Meyers began in 1993 under the tutelage of Bannatyne and founding brewmaster Darryl Goss officially becoming brewmaster in 1996. Between Bannatyne, Meyers and Goss, the Cambridge Brewing Company has garnered many awards including six Great American Beer Festival Awards. Weve been fortunate, reflects Meyers, that CBCs customers have encouraged us to develop new creations and push the envelope over the years. I feel honored to have spent my years here growing along with this brewery. As the Cambridge Brewing Company continues to grow and expand their brewing system has been pushed to its limits. To remedy this situation the Brewery is currently under expansion with three new fermenters and two serving tanks being added. The project is slated for completion by May 2nd in time to celebrate the anniversary. The larger, expanded brewery will allow CBC to easily keep up with the increasing demand for more beer. After nineteen years Bannatyne has scene the industry change drastically. He has seen breweries come and go, witnessed innovations in brewing techniques and observed several major shifts in the entire industry. What remains the same, says Bannatyne is the awe inspiring creativity that motivates our brewers and chefs. Thats what keeps me going!
