Belgian Beer in Brussels

Belgium makes some incredibly delicious beers. You can get them all over the world, but you can never find the same diverse selection on tap as in Brussels . Most bars in the city will have almost a dozen lambics, trappists, blondes, ambers, and abbey ales on tap, with over a hundred choices in bottles. Just steer clear of tourist Rue des Boucher, and you're bound to find a good place. Here are our top picks. Spinnekopke : For both beer and some beer cuisine, try out Spinnekopke, Brussels' top beer-centric restaurant. Almost all of the dishes are cooked in various beers and then served with a glass of the appropriate brew. We especially recommend the braised beef in beer and the filet de porc carolus. Brasserie Cantillon : Brasseries Cantillon is the only brewery located within the city limits, and it's a real mecca for connoisseurs. You can tour the facilities and try their numerous beers including, a truly delicious lambic. Bier Circus : One of the most well-know beerhalls in Brussels, Bier Circus serves a large selection in the proper glasses and at the right temperature. The environment is a bit cold and modern, but it's worth sacrificing ambiance for excellent brews. Poechenellekelder : They have about 8 to 10 beers on tap and about 75 bottles here, and they are all top-quality Belgian brews. All niceties of glass, temperature, and pour are rigorously observed. Service tends to be slow, and it can get crowded with tourists from the Manneken Pis down the street, but the place is worth a stop. Beer Mania : So the name doesn't sound so great. We get that. But Beer Mania actually has an excellent selection of about 400 beers from ambers and blondes to lambics to trappist ales. It is mainly a store, but there is a small bar in the back with tables and chairs. They also host live jazz on Saturdays. Caf
