More Belgian imports are likely in the wake of InBev's deal for Anheuser By CHARLES FORELLE and JOHN W. MILLERJuly 19, 2008; Page W4 Amid all the patriotic tub-thumping about the recently sealed takeover of Anheuser-Busch, maker of all-American King of Beers Budweiser, by Belgian-Brazilian InBev, one vital fact has gotten lost. Americans could soon get to drink a lot more, and more unusual, kinds of beers. WSJ's Charles Forelle and John Miller travel to Belguim to speak with Joris Pattyn, one of Belgium's finest palates, as he weighs in the beers owned by InBev, including Budweiser. read more »
This is part two of an epic two-part series detailing my beer consumption adventures in Brooklyn, New York last week. In one night I visited two bars and tried four new beers isnt that something worth reading about? Well, read on, my friends. When we last left the plotline, I was being talked into well, thats not quite fair, I was agitating strongly for continuing from BARCADE and checking out the legendary SPUYTEN DUYVIL beer bar in Williamsburg. Ive heard much about this place for a couple of years, but had never broached the doorway until last Tuesday. Now take a look at that doorway, will ya? read more »

Ahh, I remember last years unveiling of the AVERY FOURTEEN , the 14th anniversary beer from AVERY BREWING , like it was yesterday what a miraculous discovery that one was. Im a huge Avery Brewing fan thanks to their way of amassing and combining a wide array of brewing styles and techniques, and always coming up smelling of roses (and hops, and yeast, etc.). These guys have been punching above their weight for years now. So of course it was a no-brainer to buy a 22-oz. bottle of this years anniversary ale, AVERY FIFTEEN . read more »

The second beer tried at the Brasserie Grain d'Orge was the 3 Schteng. First the name: much to our amazement, there is a place in Belgium where three countries meet in one place - Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. The Drielandenpunt. Thus 3 Schteng means the 3 stones, in the old dialect spoken in the region. Furthermore, if you are really into beer trivia, the 3 Schteng is brewed in memory of a fourth country that bordered the Drielandenpunt, the Neutraal-Moresnet which only existed till 1919.
