Again, this is a post from David and Win's visit in February. After leaving Deep Ellum we caught a cab to Washington Square and stopped by The Publick House to finish out the night. We were in pretty decent shape when we arrived, but we quickly remedied that. 800. Avec Les Bons Voeux Beer Stats: Brewery: Brasserie Dupont Alcohol: 9.50% Serving: Tap Style: Saison , BJCP Style Guide Poured a hazy, golden amber. Topped by a thin head that faded to a film. The aroma is fruity with notes of banana, pepper and grain. Sweet, citrus fruitiness with a good bit of hops in the finish. 801. Panil Barrique Next we ordered a 750 mL bottle of Panil Barrique, which I'd been saving a bottle of in the fridge for quite some time. read more »
These are the second set of 10 new beers that I had at the Belgian Beer Fest. A good portion of them seem to be rare or one-off beers given that they're not in the BA database. I think this is a sign of a good beer fest, that brewers are willing to bring their small batch, one-off beers to a fest, or better yet, to brew them for a fest. It helps keep the variety high and the offerings interesting. 881. The Tap Honing Ale Beer Stats: Brewery: The Tap / Haverhill Brewery, Inc Alcohol: 6.80% Style: Belgian Pale Ale , BJCP Style Guide Pours a cloudy, straw golden. Topped by a sudsy head. Honey is definitely present in the aroma with a bit of a resiny character. The sweetness of the honey mingles well with a nice tart fruitiness from the yeast. read more »

In addition to the Tyranena tasting that Kris posted (January 18, 4pm - 6pm, at Thomas Liquors in St. Paul), Fitty alerted me to a bunch of new stuff they got in this week. We just got a ton of HopSlam about an hour ago… and the price did NOT increase, $13.99. I also got a lot more new and old stuff that you’ll have to check out. eg. more Black Hole, Haand Dark Force, Orkney Reserve, Brasserie Dupont Avec les Bons Voeux and others. Hope to see you soon! Cheers, Fitty
I have been contemplating making a public challenge to Asheville beer bars when I came across some news today. Its not that we dont have some fine places to drink. Barleys, Bier Garden , Hannah Flannagans, and others offer plenty of taps to choose from, not to mention our brewpubs. However, I have been disappointed in the lack of variety in their Belgian draft offerings. Well it looks like my dreams have come true . The Thirsty Monk is set to open in September at the current site of Hookah Joes read more »
